| FRENCH RIVIERA PROPERTY – MENTON AND TOULON | The Government in France recently announced tax cuts if nine million Euros. These tax cuts are designed to help homeowners and may lower house prices, meaning more ex pats eyeing up regions of France as retirement destinations.
And what better retirement destination than the French Riviera. Two towns in particular are Menton and Toulon.
Menton French Riviera property in Menton has many Italian influences as it once belonged to Genoa. Tall pink, cream and ochre houses are built in the old town rising up from the harbour.
There is plenty to do in Menton, but it is not overtly rowdy. February sees its famous lemon festival. To the west of the town is a 1930’s style casino with a long promenade leading to a public beach.
Behind the town stretches miles of mountains with ancient villages perched on edges. If you are looking to really get away from it all then a French Riviera property in one of these villages could be for you.
Toulon
Toulon is much more international than Menton and a French Riviera property here would be ideal for someone not quite ready to lose the hustle and bustle of their current life.
The town has a very active and busy port area, an old town and many square, cafes and shopping to while away the hours.
The buildings here have a Provencal style with many having delightful wrought iron balconies. Open spaces were important to whoever designed this town, as there are a number of squares, Place de la Liberté has a magnificent grand fountain.
In Toulon you will find the largest, most elaborate collection of trompe l'oeil wall murals. The mural at Place Vatel of a galleon is three-dimensional. Want a Property in France?
