| FRENCH PROPERTY – POPULAR WITH BRITISH BUYERS AGAIN | | It has been confirmed that due to the struggling pound and cheaper Euro mortgages the Brits are once again buying French property over more exotic locations.
The French property market has seen a 15 to 20 percent reduction in prices in 2009, making it a good time to buy.
To facilitate these French property purchases Britons are taking out cheaper Euro mortgages, as even if the exchange rate improves when you come to pay it back you will reduce the price you pay for the property.
A Euro mortgage also helps reduce the French annul wealth tax which applies to properties over €790,000. By taking out a Euro mortgage it is possible to bring the net value of a French property under that limit.
The French property market is more established and secure than other destinations and there are a number of different locations to choose from. Languedoc is still good value with a château in the Périgord region of the Dordogne currently for less than one million Euros.
