PROVENCE PROPERTY The Var is the sunshine department of France, with the Southern Alpes in the north and the famous Cote D'Azur to the South.  With stunning mountain ranges, lakes, huge forests and 430 kilometres of sundrenched shoreline, fine white sandy beaches, tranquil coves and umbrella pines, the region is one of the most popular destinations in France for holiday makers and investors alike. Furthermore, the Var has not been developed to the extent of the neighbouring Alpes-Maritimes and is classified as the second "greenest" department in France. Several well known and popular resorts animate the coast and give it its reputation: Bandol, Hyères-les-Palmiers, Bormes-les-Mimosas, Le Lavandou, St Tropez, Sainte-Maxime, Fréjus, Saint Raphaël.  Just short ferry rides from Hyeres are three unique islands, Iles d'Or: Porquerolles, Port-Cros and Le Levant. Port Cros, the smallest of the islands is a national park boasting beautiful landscapes.  The neighbouring Ile du Levant is an exceptional botanical location, popular with naturists. Porquerolles is the largest of the three islands and boasts outstanding provincial restaurants and outstanding wine producing vineyards. The unique islands are popular with naturists offering a naturally beautiful environment to go diving or to stroll or cycle through. The Haut Var offers a striking contrast with its perched villages high in the mountains, vast forests and breathtaking gorges, is ideal for quiet cool summer holidays. For the fitness inclined, The Gorges du Verdon provides an exceptional playground for walkers, climbers, kayakers with spectacular canyons and breathtaking views. The lakes and rivers are popular for both canoeing and swimming. Furthermore, the vast forests produce truffles, mushrooms, and wild herbs growing abundantly filling the fresh air with delightful scents. Situated between the dramatic mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, the Var inland has a much slower pace. Rich with Medieval towns, provincial markets, olive groves, enormous lavender plantations, alluring fields of sunflowers, and first-class vineyards, the area is unspoilt. The vineyards produce some of the best know wines of the Cotes de Provence.   The wide range of cultural and sporting activities from art exhibitions, bike races, folk dancing, kayaking, walking, climbing, olive & wine festivals, provincial markets and fetes, there is something for holiday makers and locals alike.
