DORDOGNE PROPERTY – RENTAL PRICES BY SEASON

Before you look at buying a Dordogne property you should learn as much as you can about the area.

The Dordogne is a region of South West France between the Loire valley and the High Pyrenees named after the great river that runs through it.

Many areas of the Dordogne has visitors all year round and the area is large so the north-east can be significantly colder than the south-west.

Summer

The summer months of July and August typically sees temperatures of 30-35 degrees and this, coupled with the vast range of activities taking place means areas can be quite busy.  If you are looking to buy a Dordogne property to rent out to holiday makers these will be the two most lucrative months with places often charging 40% more than their standard rate.

Spring and Autumn

May, June and September are beautiful times of the year with temperatures almost as hot as the summer months.  However with a slight risk of rain far fewer tourists visit making the area quieter.  You will still be able to rent out your Dordogne property in these months but you will need to drop the price a little.

Winter

Winter in the Dordogne can be a very different place.  There is an increased risk of rain, cooler weather and the nights can be very cold (-10 has been known in February to December).  Most of the attractions and restaurants are closed in the winter but you will still be able to rent your Dordogne property.  Snow has been known to fall in winter, which makes a very romantic setting for a Christmas break, but you will have to reduce your prices by up to 70% to compete with other hotels and holiday homes in the area.
