PARIS PROPERTY – ARRONDISSEMENTS 1 – 7

Paris is made up of twenty arrondissements.  Each is very different and property type and prices vary greatly.

Arrondissement 1 – Louvre
There is little in the way of residential property in this arrondissement and what is available is expensive.  There has recently been a regeneration of an old market area in Les Halles which may offer some interesting Paris property opportunities.

Arrondisement 2 – Bourse
This is the financial area home to Place de la Bourse and the Paris Stock Exchange.

Arrondissement 3 – Temple
This area is a lively cultural mix of people including many from the gay and Jewish communities. Property here is smaller and more expensive.

Arrondisement 4 - Hôtel-de-Ville
This sought after arrondissement is a gay village with vibrant nightlife, similar to London’s Soho.  Also, one of the most culturally rich areas, this arrondisement is home to Notre-Dame Cathedral and the George Pompidou Centre.  Paris property in this area is expensive.

Arrondissement 5 - Panthéon
This arrondissement is often referred to as the Latin Quarter and houses many of Paris’s academic establishments.  As well as the educational centres some of the finest churches exist in this area such as Saint Étienne du Mont and Saint Séverin.

Arrondissement 6 – Luxemburg
This district, like its neighbouring Latin Quarter is also home to a number of academic institutions.  It is also famous for the largest public park in Paris called the Jardin du Luxembourg.  A network of medieval streets houses some fashionable restaurants, bars and cafes.  Property in this arrondissement is the most expensive in Paris.

Arrondissement 7 - Palais-Bourbon
This district is likened to London’s Westminster as it is home to a number of Government buildings and also the Eiffel Towel.  This is the largest of the central left-bank arrondissements and property here is less expensive than the 5th and 6th.
