ST TROPEZ PROPERTY – CELEBRITY

Before you look at buying a St Tropez property you should learn as much as you can about the town.

Ever since Roger Vadim arrived in St Tropez in 1956 to film Brigitte Bardot in Et Dieu Crea la Femme, it has been a mecca for A-list holidaymakers.

Over the next decade or so, St Tropez became synonymous with international celebrities, a favoured getaway for Picasso and Giorgio Armani.  And in 1971, when Mick Jagger married Bianca the event was covered by every celebrity magazine in the world making St Tropez a household name.

Most recent to visit were Salma Hayek and husband Francois-Henri Pinault who enjoyed a short Easter break with their daughter.

If rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous is what you crave then a St Tropez property is for you.

Long before the celebs invaded, St Tropez was a quiet 15th-century fishing town, written about by Colette in the 1930's and painted by Cezanne before that.  St Tropez retains much of this charm: its tiny ornate streets, its peach-coloured facades, its hidden plazas and pétanque-playing locals are still there.

St Tropez property is expensive but you get what you pay for as is the view of Jerry Hall who owns a property here.  The season reaches a high in late July early August when most locals stay behind secured gates and enjoy the sun from the privacy of their own gardens.  In the off-season, the village has about 5,600 residents, in the summer it attracts more than 80,000 visitors.

If you want quiet sophistication or bells and whistles glitz and glam St Tropez property provides both.
