FRENCH RIVIERA PROPERTY – CANNES AND MARSEILLE

Cannes is the jewel in the French Riviera crown, famous for its glitzy, celebrity haunts and the film festival.

Cannes city is centred around the old port with the ‘Croisette’ boulevard running around the bay to the East and Boulevard Jean Hibert out to the West.

The main street in the city is the Rue d'Antibes and the Boulevard Carnot which takes you North out of the city.  There are some very chic French Riviera properties to be had on these streets and you will be right in the centre of the action, however, the price tag will certainly be chic too.

The city is built out of ancient ruins so amidst the modern apartments the occasional traditional property can be found, in areas such as Le Suquet, the old town.

Climbing up out of Le Suquet are magnificent hill top properties with views of the Gulf of La Napoule to the Massif de l'Esterel mountains.

Marseille

Marseille is by far the oldest city in France built in 600 BC by Greek sailors.  Marseille is now a commercial centre for the whole of Southern Europe with its huge port, airport, oil industry and large population.  However, there are real picturesque areas, such as the old town of Panier where French Riviera properties can be found at a fraction of the cost in Cannes.

The real property hot spots are the Quartiers, little Provencal villages in the hills above the port, of which there are over 100.  If you are looking for a peaceful French Riviera property with easy access to amenities then one of these Quartiers could be for you.

Each Quartier has a church and playing area for Boules.  Climbing 162 metres above sea level you will find Estaque, whose cliffs inspired Cezanne.
