LUXURY PROPERTIES IN LONDON ATTRACT THE RICH & FAMOUS

Whilst London property prices continue to inflate and discourage eager property buyers – who as a result go abroad to get more for their money – the high end properties of Marylebone are causing quite a stir with the rich and famous looking for a UK residence.

From the likes of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and their good friend George Clooney to rock legends such as Keith Richards, London is the place to be if you’re after sheer luxury.

MARYLEBONE: THE UP AND COMING

Ten years ago, Marylebone had very little to offer and property buyers were generally disinterested for its lack of energy on the high street. But today things have changed dramatically. With what some are calling “the Firehouse effect”, Marylebone is now an up and coming area of London and Angelina Jolie has already set her sights on an uber luxurious penthouse of around £25 million.

The “Firehouse effect” is caused by hotelier Andre Balazs’ Chiltern Firehouse Hotel and Restaurant, a favourite celebrity hangout. Diners include Kate Moss, Lindsay Lohan, Pixie Lott, David and Victoria Beckham, Cara Delevigne, Rita Ora and Kylie Minogue.

According to Knight Frank, Marylebone is no longer a prime area for property, but “super prime”. For anyone looking for the ultimate luxury property in London, it’s time to divert your attention to the emerging area of Marylebone.

INTERNATIONAL DEMAND FOR LONDON PROPERTIES

Despite recent reports of the average house price in London reaching half a million (10 times more than the average salary can afford), it seems that international demand is still booming. With London’s top tables bringing in the rich and famous from all around the world, the property market will show no signs of slowing down.

Independent property buying agency Black Brick reported that in November 2014, they signed deals with clients in Brazil, Egypt and Qatar, all with budgets in the millions. The company also expect Chinese buyers to become prominent in 2015 and the area of choice will be no other than the up and coming Marylebone. With its transformed high street of quality boutiques, high end restaurants and luxury independent retailers, this part of London has become a chic place to buy a house.

Other popular areas for the affluent include Chelsea (home to many of the Made In Chelsea stars), Richmond (home of Mick Jagger, Sandra Bullock and Colin Firth), Regent’s Park (home to Keith Richards and Sir Paul McCartney), and other areas such as Notting Hill or Fulham.
