Paris Saint Germain

If you are a football fan, whenever you hear the words “Saint Germain”, you may immediately think of PSG, one of the strongest football teams in the whole of France. However, when talking about the 6th Arrondissement, we are referring to Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the home of the historic abbey and some of the best streets for shopping in Paris. As well as all the classic French designer boutiques, there are some small specialty shops, which really set the 6th Arrondissement apart. They even have an amazing chocolate store, Patrick Roger, where they treat the chocolate like art, which is an absolute must-see for chocolate lovers.

Eating Out in the 6th Arrondissement

However, what this area is most famous for is its amazing cafes and restaurants. Ever since the very first coffeehouse, Le Precope, opened in 1686, the Saint-Germain-des-Prés quarter has found its streets lined with artists and writers making the cafes their homes whilst they find their artistic creativity.

Entertainment in the 6th Arrondissement

If you are feeling particularly cultural, then you are in luck. The 6th Arrondissement is known for its theatres, especially the Odéon, one of France’s six national theatres. Also, the Jardin de Luxembourg, the 2nd largest public park in the city, is situated here. It is such a peaceful place to visit and just relax whilst overlooking the grand Palais du Luxembourg.

Transport in the 6th Arrondissement

Transportation links to the 6th Arrondissement are fantastic with several metro stations, the RER and buses that pass straight through. However, public transport is not needed when there is a promenade along the River Seine, where you can stroll to the famous bridges, Pont des Artes and Pont Neuf and soak up the impressive scenery.

This has got to be one of the best neighbourhoods to just mull around, with all the quaint cafes and little boutiques, as well as the museums and art galleries. If you choose to live in the 6th Arrondissement, you are in danger of never leaving; everything you could possibly want is here.
