La villa 'Vasco de Gama' is no ordinary home, it is an internal meeting point that opens up a game of discovery. Because Vasco de Gama was a discoverer of exoticism, the Villa and the road leading to it carry his name. The Villa is inspired by different places, like India and Goa, Indonesia and Bali as well as Normandy.

The gate is directly inspired by the work of Salvador Dali : ‘The Butterfly Book’. The butterfly is a major symbol of the surrealists. The gate replicates the exact proportions of the work, and was made to measure by the ironwork studio C.A.T. in Prats-de-Carlux (near Sarlat).

Ground Floor:
The 40m2 kitchen extends onto a 8m2 back kitchen fully equipped with made to measure teak cupboards. It features an adjoining WC. The kitchen is fitted with bespoke furniture designed by the decorator Claude Kieffer and made in Bali (Indonesia) by the Lys trading company. The dining room was designed by Claude Kieffer. The different types of wood come from a variety of essences and periods which blend together to create a warm atmosphere. The teak stairwell deserves a special mention, with its sculpted panels with rose motifs like those found in mashrabiyas.

The east wing of the Villa measures approximately 70m2. It comprises an office/library of 20m2 and a master bedroom decorated in tones of chocolate and gold. Two heavy antique doors on either side of the bed lead to the other rooms. The adjoining dressing room is made entirely of teak. A marble-clad bathroom decorated in coral blue tones. The made to measure double sink unit is flanked by two monumental marble columns. Two roof windows (one with electric opening) take maximum advantage of the sun at its zenith. A door in the corner gives direct access to the swimming pool.

A footbridge at the entrance leads onto a covered walkway which serves the two wings of the Villa. The columns divide up the space like the spokes of an enormous sundial.

Garden Level:
The relaxation room in the Villa Vasco de Gama is decorated in the colours of Asia with original decorative elements from India and Bali. It features a comfortable spa for two people and a hammam for four people. In the Moroccan tradition, the specially designed red and black hammam comprises a glazed vault. It features two showers and leads to a separate WC in the hall and a room for use as a fitness G’ room.

The Granny suite, measuring approximately 38m2, faces north-east. It enjoys the huge terrace overlooking the succession of pools. The sound of spring water can be heard in the bucolic atmosphere with a view over the surrounding trees.

The Saffron suite, measuring approximately 38m2, faces north-east. It enjoys the huge terrace overlooking the succession of pools. The sound of spring water can be heard in the bucolic atmosphere with a view over
the surrounding trees. The scent of lavender and the trees in the small orchard add to the enjoyment of this suite.
