About Life in the Cotignac Region of France
The Var may be well-known for its coastline, which attracts tourists every year, but the countryside is where wise buyers search for property. Cotignac is located in Provence’s Var department in southeast France, and is easily accessible by way of the Nice or Toulon airports. Nearby medieval towns have narrow streets, towering castles, ancient fountains, stone bridges and historic churches. In the village centres, you can stop at a cafe, or find your way to a green area nearby for a picnic.
If you’re looking for luxury property for sale in Cotignac, your search will unearth private villas and chateaux with multiple bedrooms, private pools, and more than enough land to give you all the privacy you could want. Your home may have en-suite bathrooms in each room, plus fireplaces, a temperature-controlled wine cellar, and a spa area with a sauna and jacuzzi. And because the area is so beautiful, the land and landscaping that surround your home will be lush and incredibly green. You may even be able to enjoy a view of the sea or a mountaintop, a shimmering lake or a serene forest – truly, there’s no bad option.
Have coffee early in the morning or dine al fresco with your family and friends on one of your covered terraces. Take a dip any time of the day in your pool that’s completely private thanks to well-placed landscaping. Prepare a meal in your summer kitchen as you appreciate the panoramic views of the region or your own garden, complete with lavender and working fountains. Also keep in mind that property for sale in Cotignac often includes ample parking, which is great news if you have a selection of vehicles or love to have guests over. Furthermore, because the parking is so generous and many homes here have multiple en-suite bedrooms, there are excellent opportunities for turning your property into a bed and breakfast or hotel business.
The village of Cotignac has many of the amenities and entertainment you’ll need, like bars and restaurants, educational and medical facilities, and, of course, shopping. Cotignac’s weekly market is on Tuesdays, and there are nearby markets other days of the week, too. For example, the Carcès market, which is about 6 kilometres away, is held every Saturday, while Aups has two weekly markets – on Wednesdays and Saturdays – and is only about 13 kilometres away. Also, with the wine-producing commune of Entrescasteaux so close, you can easily pick up a few bottles. There’s also a medieval village there, and you can stroll around to take in pastel houses, interesting monuments and beautiful gardens (especially those by the castle).
When you want to venture out to explore beyond your immediate surroundings, Salernes is a lovely, picturesque town set in the Bresque River valley, and it’s so close to Cotignac that you can head in just for the morning or afternoon. The area is known for tile-making, particularly Provence’s popular hexagonal terracotta tiles. Since the industry remains active, you’re bound to see smoking kilns around town where the tiles are made. Dubbed the Cité de la Ceramique, Salernes is one of the oldest parts of western Europe (if not the oldest) to make pottery, which dates back to 7,000 years ago – visitors are known to head here just to visit the pottery shops.
