About Property in Lorgues
Lorgues is situated in the centre of the beautiful Var department, in the South of Provence along the Mediterranean coast. Unlike its fast-paced neighbours on the French Riviera, Lorgues and the Var generally is more traditionally Provencal and tranquil – which is exactly why buyers search for homes here. The fortified city has its roots in the 11th century, and you can clearly see its history in the area’s ancient and religious architecture, carvings, cobbled streets and vaulted passageways.
The main street in Lorgues, which is lined with plane trees, has a market every Tuesday, selling produce, kitchenware, clothing, jewellery and home goods. The rest of the week, a stroll along the main street will take you by cafes, restaurants and shops. Then, during Christmastime, you’ll be treated to festive seasonal markets. Shop for Christmas gifts and marvel at the costumed performers on stilts.
Many of the properties in Lorgues are villas and farmhouses, often with landscaped gardens and sparkling pools, which are ideal for anyone seeking a classic Mediterranean way of life. Or, travel in the other direction for an hour and a half to visit Les Gorges du Verdon, a breathtakingly beautiful river canyon.
Lorgues is as practical as it is desirable. Homes here have strong rental opportunities, making it a prime place to purchase an investment property or a managed property that you’ll use for holidays. You may also find a home that’s already serving as a B&B or one that has the potential to be turned into one.
