More than 80 million people visit ski resorts in the French and Swiss Alps each year. Here are four of the most desirable chalets in the French Alps in the most coveted property hotspots in the French Alps.
A recent report by Knight Frank revealed that the top four ski resorts for price performance in France were: Val d’Isère, Méribel, Chamonix and Courchevel. In the study, the price of a typical four or five bedroom chalet in each of these property hotspots in the French Alps increased “by 5.8% and 4.5% respectively in the year” to June 2015.
Home Hunts’ portfolio offers many luxury chalets for sale in the French Alps, but here are four of the most luxurious in these areas where buyers can immediately expect their property to increase in value.
Val d’Isère
One of Val d’Isère’s most respected chalet builders is behind the design of this spectacular four-bedroom chalet (HH-7356502), which is located in one of the most exclusive areas of the village. South-facing, the property is warmed by the sun for most of the day, and, despite being a large property in a residential area, the balcony and garden remain completely private. Just a short walk though, and residents can be at the piste for a day of skiing.
Fixtures and fittings of the highest quality have been used to perfect the look in this luxurious chalet. It also has potential for expansion as an underground annexe could be converted into a swimming pool area or cinema lounge and bar area. There is also a mazot that is ready to be made into an independent studio flat with underground access to the main chalet. The property is on the market for €4,350,000.
Méribel
Luxurious off-plan opportunities do not come around very often in Méribel, but an experienced Alpine developer is building a five-bedroom chalet in a privileged location (HH-6237075I). Next to an Alpine church, with uninterrupted views over the valley, this small south-facing “chalet-style” building is formed in the shape of an “L”.
Overall it comprises a five-bedroom chalet, with spacious terraces and a private garden, as well as a building with two or three apartments (depending on the client’s requirements). These high spec buildings are made with wood and stone from old Alpine farms, and high quality materials throughout. This property, in a sought after property hotspot in the French Alps, is priced at €3,250,000.
Chamonix
With unhindered views of Mont Blanc and surrounded by a large amount of land, properties like this charming three-bedroom 18th century farmhouse (HH-4801231) are almost unheard of in Chamonix. Completely renovated and located about 600 metres from the Grand Montets cable car in Argentière, this south-facing property fuses modern and traditional Savoyard styles.
Outside the vast lawn is the perfect place to relax and entertain during summer months and it even has a golf green at the far end. There is also space for an outdoor pool, helipad or tennis courts, if desired. Inside, the Jacuzzi means that relaxing in luxury is possible all year round and there is also a separate gym. This property is priced at €2,490,000.
Courchevel
Located in Courchevel 1850 – one of the most sought after property hotspots in the French Alps – this five-bedroom chalet (HH-7138493) is one of the most luxurious properties in the area. Skiing all winter and hiking or cycling all summer might be enough exercise for some, but for residents who want to keep fit in the comfort of their own home, this property’s gym and swimming pool might do the trick.
A Jacuzzi and steam room offer a way to wind down post-workout, and a cinema room, wine cellar and stunning open plan living room ensure that the entertainment can be just as good whether at home or out on the town. Positioned among pine trees and close to all amenities, the price of this unique property is available on application.
